Last week’s post had a lot of you buzzing, quite literally we hope!
While you loved our updated Hot Toddy with Earl Grey, rosemary and blackberry, many of you wondered how to make other versions of this cocktail. So, today we have another variation: the Maple Hot Toddy. With flavors of maple and tea, this cocktail practically counts as breakfast.
So sip this hot cocktail while you flip pancakes or cuddle up with that special someone and cheers near the fireplace. This versatile drink is great for any occasion.
For this cocktail, you will need:
- English breakfast tea
- Bourbon (we went with honey bourbon)
- Maple syrup (no fake stuff!)
Step one: tea
First, steep your tea in boiling water for 2-3 minutes. We’re big fans of English Breakfast, but feel free to use any black tea for this step.
Step two: bourbon
Next, remove the tea bags and add an ounce of bourbon to each of your glasses.
Fun fact: tea, bourbon, lemon, and honey are a natural remedy for sore throats and bad colds, so you can feel better about making yourself (or a friend) this cocktail.
Step three: maple
Finally, add a 1/2 teaspoon of maple syrup, a squeeze of lemon, and garnish with lemon peel. Remember that this cocktail will taste absolutely awful if you use Mrs. Buttersworth’s, so do yourself a favor and buy some quality maple syrup.
Cheers – happy sipping!
