Oh, Canada! It’s almost Canada Day, and this year, Canadians are celebrating the 150th anniversary of the country becoming its own Dominion within the British Empire.
To celebrate, we asked our Paint Nite Kitchener-Waterloo team, headed up by Erin Bunting, to share their favorite cocktail. Erin chose the Caesar, which just-so-happens to be the national cocktail of Canada!
This is what Erin had to say: “The Caesar is a twist on a Bloody Mary in that Clamato is used in place of tomato juice (don’t knock it till you try it). The great thing about this cocktail is that so many versions can be made. I’ve seen some which feature maple-vodka (YUM) to give the drink an event larger Canadian twist, and some branching from the traditional celery stick garnish into olives, bocconcini balls, bacon strips… anything!”

For the Caesar, you will need:
- Celery salt
- Worcestershire sauce
- Hot sauce
Step one: prep the rim!
First, use a lime wedge to moisten the rim of your glass. Then, roll the rim in celery salt!
Step two: vodka
Now, add two ounces of vodka into each glass.
Step three: Clamato juice
Fill each glass to the top with Clamato juice.
Step four: season
First, add a pinch of pepper to each glass.
The, add a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce to each glass.
Finally, shake in a little hot sauce!
Step five: garnish
Finally, garnish your cocktail with a celery stick and lime wedge (and Canadian flags to celebrate all things Canada this weekend). Now, sit back and enjoy your beverage.
