St. Patrick’s Day: the right way

Dia duit! It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day, and here at Paint Nite, we are very excited. A day to celebrate Irish culture, eat copious amounts of Irish bread, and grab a few beers with friends? What could be better?! Now, maybe you’re thinking “but I’m not even Irish!” That is a-okay. As posted in the Guinness Brewery:

So, have you made your Paddy’s Day plans yet? If not, don’t worry—we’ve got your back. Follow along below for a guide to having the best St. Patrick’s Day ever!

Top o’ the mornin’

Start your St. Patrick’s Day right with a full Irish breakfast (recipe here). Bangers (sausage), rashers (bacon), black and white pudding, potatoes, beans, eggs, tomato, and a slice of brown bread. Perhaps wash it down with an Irish coffee?

Another safe bet? Irish cheese.

Make sure you eat. This is necessary to keep you fueled up for a day of fun. Moving right along…

Dress to impress

Make sure you’re in appropriate attire. You should essentially look like a walking shamrock on St. Patrick’s Day. A few guidelines:

Color: The correct color on St. Patrick’s Day is Kelly Green. NOT lime. NOT pea soup. DEFINITELY not olive. If you’re going to wear green, for the love of St. Patrick, please, please, please, please wear the right shade. Thanks!

Commit: Don’t half-ass it. Just commit. This isn’t a day to play it safe. Everyone else is going all out too, so just give in and have fun. See below for an example of the correct green-to-not-green ratio.

Flags: We’ll keep this brief. The flag of the Republic of Ireland is green, white, and orange. This is commonly confused with the flag of Côte d’Ivoire, or Ivory Coast, West Africa. So, just keep this in mind when you hang your flags off your balconies or flaunt them through the streets.

Get your buzz on!

It’s time to get the real fun started. Some St. Patrick’s Day drink musts are…

Guinness. Duh.

Boozy milkshakes

Irish Whiskey

Now, all you have to do is decide what type of shenanigans to get into. There’s the pubs…

And the parades…

No matter where you end up, just hold true to the only tenets of St. Patrick’s Day:

Now, go have fun!

Sláinte! Cheers!
