Bright Bloom Bright Sky is the kind of painting that rewards you for committing to it — those layered reds and pinks and that open sweep of blue sky come together in a way that feels bigger and more alive than you'd expect when you first pick up a brush. I've been running these nights since 2015 and I still get a kick out of watching that moment when someone steps back and realizes what they actually made. You don't need any experience coming in — I'll meet you where you are and we'll build it up together, one layer at a time. Bored Brewing Taproom and Clubhouse makes for a great room for it, and Saturday nights here tend to find their own rhythm. That bloom is going to look good on your wall.

I'm a mainly self-taught artist, born and raised in Calgary. I've been hosting PaintNite events since 2015 and am always excited to paint. It never gets old; seeing you wonderful people take these very basic elements of colour and create a unique expression of art. With my events being presented in a relaxing, yet mentally stimulating manner, and along with my dry sense of humor, you're sure to find something enjoyable about the experience of painting with MrPaintyPants
Questions about what to expect, what’s included, and how it all works.
Yes — Bright Bloom Bright Sky is one of our most approachable paintings. Absolute first-timers finish this one looking great. Mike walks you through every step, and the whole group moves together so nobody falls behind. Worth knowing: Paint Nite events happen at real bars and restaurants, not studios — it's a night out that happens to involve painting.
A painting class teaches you technique. Paint Nite gives you a finished painting and a good night. Mike is a real local artist — not a teacher running a curriculum — and this event happens at Bored Brewing Taproom and Clubhouse, a real local spot, not a studio. Paint Nite invented this format in 2012 and has sold more than 10 million tickets. The trade-off is honest: lighting varies, it can get loud, and the person at the next easel is a stranger. That's the point. It's more of a night out than a class.
Yes — Bright Bloom Bright Sky is a Paint Nite favourite for girls nights in Calgary. Everyone paints their own canvas, so there's always something to laugh about at the end. If you're planning a bachelorette party or a larger group, private events of 10+ get reserved seating and a custom experience.
Mike is a real local artist based in Calgary — not a franchise employee or a corporate hire. 13 out of 17 guests who've painted with Mike say the instruction was amazing. Allison W. said: 'Mike is an awesome teacher and explained each step throughly. It was a really fun event.'
Bored Brewing Taproom and Clubhouse is a local venue in Calgary — a real local spot, not a dedicated painting studio. Paint Nite events happen at places like this by design — venues with character, regulars, and a bar. It can get lively. That's what makes it a night out rather than a class.
Yes — we have 112 upcoming events in Calgary this month. You can view them here.
Bright Bloom Bright Sky is a summer painting — bright, warm tones that match the season perfectly.
Yaymaker is Paint Nite. We brought both brands together under the Paint Nite name — same artists, same events, same format we invented in 2012. More than 10 million tickets have been sold across both brands combined. If you used to attend Yaymaker events in Calgary, you're in the right place. Welcome back.
Your ticket to Bright Bloom Bright Sky includes the canvas, all the paint you'll need, the use of brushes and an apron during the event, and step-by-step instruction from Mike. Drinks and food are ordered separately from Bored Brewing Taproom and Clubhouse — you pay the venue directly for anything you eat or drink.
Bored Brewing Taproom and Clubhouse's doors open at 3:00 PM, the event starts at 7:00 PM. We suggest showing up by 6:30 PM to give yourself time to pick your seats, get a drink and maybe a bite before Mike starts the painting.
You can reschedule your ticket to any other Paint Nite event up to 24 hours before this one starts. After that, tickets are locked — no refunds or changes. If Paint Nite cancels this event for any reason, you'll receive a full automatic refund.
