Hummingbirds move so fast you almost never get to really *look* at one — and that's kind of what I love about painting this. We slow it down, pull out every crazy color hiding in those wings, and by the end of the night you've got something bold and alive on your canvas that actually stops people in their tracks. I've been hosting these nights since 2015, so I know how to meet you wherever you're at — first time holding a brush, or just haven't painted since grade school, we'll build it up together. Buffalo Bob's is a great room for a night like this, the kind of place where you settle in, order something good, and stop thinking about your week. By the end, that hummingbird in full technicolor is going to be the thing you're most proud of walking out with.

I'm a mainly self-taught artist, born and raised in Calgary. I've been hosting PaintNite events since 2015 and am always excited to paint. It never gets old; seeing you wonderful people take these very basic elements of colour and create a unique expression of art. Technicolor Hummingbird is one of our more detailed paintings, which is exactly what makes it so satisfying to finish. Mike paces it carefully so nobody gets left behind — and Mike will help you turn any mistake into something intentional. Worth knowing: Paint Nite events happen at real bars and restaurants, not studios — it's a night out that happens to involve painting.
A painting class teaches you technique. Paint Nite gives you a finished painting and a good night. Mike is a real local artist — not a teacher running a curriculum — and this event happens at Buffalo Bobs Canadian Pub, a real local spot, not a studio. Paint Nite invented this format in 2012 and has sold more than 10 million tickets. The trade-off is honest: lighting varies, it can get loud, and the person at the next easel is a stranger. That's the point. It's more of a night out than a class.

Yaymaker is Paint Nite. We brought both brands together under the Paint Nite name — same artists, same events, same format we invented in 2012. More than 10 million tickets have been sold across both brands combined. If you used to attend Yaymaker events in Calgary, you're in the right place. Welcome back.
Your ticket to Technicolor Hummingbird includes the canvas, all the paint you'll need, the use of brushes and an apron during the event, and step-by-step instruction from Mike. Drinks and food are ordered separately from Buffalo Bobs Canadian Pub — you pay the venue directly for anything you eat or drink.
Buffalo Bobs Canadian Pub's doors open at 11:00 AM, the event starts at 7:00 PM. We suggest showing up by 6:30 PM to give yourself time to pick your seats, get a drink and maybe a bite before Mike starts the painting.
You can reschedule your ticket to any other Paint Nite event up to 24 hours before this one starts. After that, tickets are locked — no refunds or changes. If Paint Nite cancels this event for any reason, you'll receive a full automatic refund.
