Monique has run over 1,700 of these nights, and that number means something — she's not figuring it out as she goes, she's just having a great time and bringing everyone along with her. She jokes around, she keeps it loose, and she has a way of making the room feel easy even for people who swore they could never paint. The subject tonight is a pair of holiday penguins, which is exactly as charming as it sounds, and I'll meet you where you are — whether you're an artist or someone who hasn't held a brush since grade school. Come as you are, laugh a little, and leave with something you actually made.

I'm thrilled to be hosting/instructing an experience that can be so empowering, transformative, and therapeutic (at the very least, huge fun!)... It's beautiful to watch people amaze themselves; doing something adventurous and overcoming doubts. I hope to provide you with a supportive, encouraging environment, where you can just relax, create, and laugh along with me (I goof around a lot)! My artistic background is wildly varied (pencil portraits, professional face painting, crafts/card making, carving, sculpting, design/decorating projects) - I love any chance to be creative! I can't wait to have you out to explore and unleash your own glorious artistry! Whether you're with your friends or flying solo, it's SO much fun! See you soon! :)
Questions about what to expect, what’s included, and how it all works.
Yes. Cute Christmas Penguins is designed to be achievable at any experience level. More satisfying than it looks difficult — Monique breaks every step down clearly. Most of our guests have never picked up a brush before, and they leave with something they're genuinely proud of. Worth knowing: Paint Nite events happen at real bars and restaurants, not studios — it's a night out that happens to involve painting.
A painting class teaches you technique. Paint Nite gives you a finished painting and a good night. Monique is a real local artist — not a teacher running a curriculum — and this event happens at IKEA Winnipeg , a real local spot, not a studio. Paint Nite invented this format in 2012 and has sold more than 10 million tickets. The trade-off is honest: lighting varies, it can get loud, and the person at the next easel is a stranger. That's the point. It's more of a night out than a class.
Yes — Cute Christmas Penguins is one of our family-friendly paintings. All ages are welcome at this event. We recommend ages 5 and up for independent painting, though younger kids can share a canvas with an adult.
Monique is a real local artist based in Winnipeg — not a franchise employee or a corporate hire. 71 out of 76 guests who've painted with Monique say the instruction was amazing. Kate B. said: 'Fun way to spend time with friends. Monique is an amazing teacher walks you through the painting step by step. Anyone can do this! Get ready to bring your inner artist and have some laughs!'
IKEA Winnipeg is a local venue in Winnipeg — a real local spot, not a dedicated painting studio. Paint Nite events happen at places like this by design — venues with character, regulars, and a bar. It can get lively. That's what makes it a night out rather than a class. 63% of guests who've attended events at IKEA Winnipeg rated the atmosphere highly.
Yes — we have 37 upcoming events in Winnipeg this month. You can view them here.
Cute Christmas Penguins is a winter painting — cozy seasonal vibes for a great night out.
Yaymaker is Paint Nite. We brought both brands together under the Paint Nite name — same artists, same events, same format we invented in 2012. More than 10 million tickets have been sold across both brands combined. If you used to attend Yaymaker events in Winnipeg, you're in the right place. Welcome back.
Your ticket to Cute Christmas Penguins includes the canvas, all the paint you'll need, the use of brushes and an apron during the event, and step-by-step instruction from Monique . Drinks and food are ordered separately from IKEA Winnipeg — you pay the venue directly for anything you eat or drink.
IKEA Winnipeg 's doors open at 10:00 AM, the event starts at 5:30 PM. We suggest showing up by 5:00 PM to give yourself time to pick your seats, get a drink and maybe a bite before Monique starts the painting.
You can reschedule your ticket to any other Paint Nite event up to 24 hours before this one starts. After that, tickets are locked — no refunds or changes. If Paint Nite cancels this event for any reason, you'll receive a full automatic refund.
