About This Event

About Winter Effervescence

Friday nights at Oak & Grain have a way of turning into something you didn't expect, and Monique Rainville has a talent for making that happen. With over 1,700 events behind her, she knows exactly how to read a room — when to be encouraging, when to be silly, and when to just let people find their footing on their own. That ease makes all the difference when you're picking up a brush for the first time.

The painting itself is called Winter Effervescence, and it earns that name: a landscape built from deep blues and blacks, lit up with bursts of orange and white that catch like light through bare trees at dusk. It's the kind of abstract piece that looks deceptively complex until Monique breaks it down, building each layer at a pace anyone can follow. By the end of the night, you'll have something striking on your canvas — the kind of thing that surprises you when you step back and look at it.

If you're part of a large group, come and reserve those seats at least 30 mins ahead of the start time. Food and drinks are available for purchase and can be enjoyed before, during, and after the event.

18yrs & over. Attendees require a ticket; no "spectators" will be seated in the event area.

I'm thrilled to be hosting/instructing an experience that can be so empowering, transformative, and therapeutic (at the very least, huge fun!)... It's beautiful to watch people amaze themselves; doing something adventurous and overcoming doubts. I hope to provide you with a supportive, encouraging environment, where you can just relax, create, and laugh along with me (I goof around a lot)! My artistic background is wildly varied (pencil portraits, professional face painting, crafts/card making, carving, sculpting, design/decorating projects) - I love any chance to be creative! I can't wait to have you out to explore and unleash your own glorious artistry! Whether you're with your friends or flying solo, it's SO much fun! See you soon! :)

FAQ

Paint Nite — Everything You Need to Know

Questions about what to expect, what’s included, and how it all works.

Yes. Winter Effervescence is designed to be achievable at any experience level. More satisfying than it looks difficult — Monique breaks every step down clearly. Most of our guests have never picked up a brush before, and they leave with something they're genuinely proud of. Worth knowing: Paint Nite events happen at real bars and restaurants, not studios — it's a night out that happens to involve painting.

A painting class teaches you technique. Paint Nite gives you a finished painting and a good night. Monique is a real local artist — not a teacher running a curriculum — and this event happens at Oak & Grain, a real local spot, not a studio. Paint Nite invented this format in 2012 and has sold more than 10 million tickets. The trade-off is honest: lighting varies, it can get loud, and the person at the next easel is a stranger. That's the point. It's more of a night out than a class.

Monique is a real local artist based in Winnipeg — not a franchise employee or a corporate hire. 72 out of 78 guests who've painted with Monique say the instruction was amazing. Kate B. said: 'Fun way to spend time with friends. Monique is an amazing teacher walks you through the painting step by step. Anyone can do this! Get ready to bring your inner artist and have some laughs!'

Oak & Grain is a local venue in Winnipeg — a real local spot, not a dedicated painting studio. Paint Nite events happen at places like this by design — venues with character, regulars, and a bar. It can get lively. That's what makes it a night out rather than a class.

Yes — we have 99 upcoming events in Winnipeg this month. You can view them here.

Winter Effervescence is a winter painting — cozy seasonal vibes for a great night out.

Yaymaker is Paint Nite. We brought both brands together under the Paint Nite name — same artists, same events, same format we invented in 2012. More than 10 million tickets have been sold across both brands combined. If you used to attend Yaymaker events in Winnipeg, you're in the right place. Welcome back.

Your ticket to Winter Effervescence includes the canvas, all the paint you'll need, the use of brushes and an apron during the event, and step-by-step instruction from Monique . Drinks and food are ordered separately from Oak & Grain — you pay the venue directly for anything you eat or drink.

Oak & Grain's event starts at 7:00 PM. We suggest showing up by 6:30 PM to give yourself time to pick your seats, get a drink and maybe a bite before Monique starts the painting.

You can reschedule your ticket to any other Paint Nite event up to 24 hours before this one starts. After that, tickets are locked — no refunds or changes. If Paint Nite cancels this event for any reason, you'll receive a full automatic refund.
