KCR Bar & Grill is a good spot for a Thursday night, and painting Northern Lights Peak there with Janna feels like the right kind of mid-week reset. Janna has been hosting since 2018 and has run well over 700 of these nights — she knows how to read a room, and she brings the kind of easy, warm energy that makes the whole thing click. The painting itself is what I keep thinking about: deep blacks and blues pulling across a mountain sky, then those pinks and purples bleeding in, yellow light glowing at the edges, and stars scattered through all of it. It's the kind of scene that looks complicated but builds naturally — I'll meet you where you are, and we'll get there together. The colours do a lot of the heavy lifting, and by the end of the night you'll have something that actually looks like that sky.

Janna has been happily hosting Paint Nite since 2018. As a Master Artist, she has garnered a dedicated following with her passion, technique, and delightful sense of humour. She is constantly experimenting with new mediums and her clothes and hands always tell a colourful, messy story. When Janna puts down her paintbrush she can be found baking custom cakes and treats that further showcase her creative talent, and taste delicious too! Yes. Northern Lights Peak is designed to be achievable at any experience level. More satisfying than it looks difficult — Janna breaks every step down clearly. Most of our guests have never picked up a brush before, and they leave with something they're genuinely proud of. Worth knowing: Paint Nite events happen at real bars and restaurants, not studios — it's a night out that happens to involve painting.
A painting class teaches you technique. Paint Nite gives you a finished painting and a good night. Janna is a real local artist — not a teacher running a curriculum — and this event happens at KCR Bar & Grill, a real local spot, not a studio. Paint Nite invented this format in 2012 and has sold more than 10 million tickets. The trade-off is honest: lighting varies, it can get loud, and the person at the next easel is a stranger. More than 10 million tickets have been sold across both brands combined. If you used to attend Yaymaker events in Pickering, you're in the right place. Welcome back.
Your ticket to Northern Lights Peak includes the canvas, all the paint you'll need, the use of brushes and an apron during the event, and step-by-step instruction from Janna. Drinks and food are ordered separately from KCR Bar & Grill — you pay the venue directly for anything you eat or drink.
KCR Bar & Grill's event starts at 7:00 PM. We suggest showing up by 6:30 PM to give yourself time to pick your seats, get a drink and maybe a bite before Janna starts the painting.
You can reschedule your ticket to any other Paint Nite event up to 24 hours before this one starts. After that, tickets are locked — no refunds or changes. If Paint Nite cancels this event for any reason, you'll receive a full automatic refund.
