We don’t usually paint animals, but we’ve had quite a few popping up in our recent paintings — and I’m loving it! There may be more to come…
This time, we’re painting a wonderfully spooky Halloween cat, with one main goal: making those eyes glow! We’ll explore how surrounding our brightest colours with deep, dark shadows makes them really pop. And what about those glowing windows in the distance? They add another layer of mystery, inviting us to imagine who might be inside and what our little feline friend is up to. These small details help create a narrative, turning a simple painting into a story that draws the viewer in.
A fun Halloween painting that reminds us that it’s not just about what we paint, but the stories we inspire others to imagine. Let's get Spooky!
Suggested Supplies:This class does not include a kit. A recommended list of our standard kits is below.
Canvas - I use 16x20 inches but any size will work! Keep in mind if you use a bigger canvas your painting will take longer.

3 Brushes- (small medium and large) "Flat" or "Bright" shape
Paint cup- disposable or dedicated paint cup
Palette- plastic plate works well

Questions about what to expect, what’s included, and how it all works.
Yes. The Midnight Familiar is designed to be achievable at any experience level. More satisfying than it looks difficult — Aisling breaks every step down clearly. Most of our guests have never picked up a brush before, and they leave with something they're genuinely proud of. Worth knowing: Paint Nite events happen at real bars and restaurants, not studios — it's a night out that happens to involve painting.
A painting class teaches you technique. Paint Nite gives you a finished painting and a good night. Aisling is a real local artist — not a teacher running a curriculum — and this event happens at Virtual Venue - Ontario (Eastern), a real local spot, not a studio. Paint Nite invented this format in 2012 and has sold more than 10 million tickets. The trade-off is honest: lighting varies, it can get loud, and the person at the next easel is a stranger. That's the point. It's more of a night out than a class.
Aisling is a real local artist based in Toronto — not a franchise employee or a corporate hire. In Toronto, 60 out of 73 Paint Nite guests rated their instructor as amazing. Rose K. said: 'One of the best Paint Nite’s I’ve done to date. Looking forward to doing more. Thanks for a fun evening'
Virtual Venue - Ontario (Eastern) is a local venue in Toronto — a real local spot, not a dedicated painting studio. Paint Nite events happen at places like this by design — venues with character, regulars, and a bar. It can get lively. That's what makes it a night out rather than a class. 36% of guests who've attended events at Virtual Venue - Ontario (Eastern) rated the atmosphere highly.
Yes — we have 182 upcoming events in Toronto this month. You can view them here.
Yaymaker is Paint Nite. We brought both brands together under the Paint Nite name — same artists, same events, same format we invented in 2012. More than 10 million tickets have been sold across both brands combined. If you used to attend Yaymaker events in Toronto, you're in the right place. Welcome back.
Your ticket to The Midnight Familiar includes the canvas, all the paint you'll need, the use of brushes and an apron during the event, and step-by-step instruction from Aisling. Drinks and food are ordered separately from Virtual Venue - Ontario (Eastern) — you pay the venue directly for anything you eat or drink.
Virtual Venue - Ontario (Eastern)'s event starts at 7:00 PM. We suggest showing up by 6:30 PM to give yourself time to pick your seats, get a drink and maybe a bite before Aisling starts the painting.
You can reschedule your ticket to any other Paint Nite event up to 24 hours before this one starts. After that, tickets are locked — no refunds or changes. If Paint Nite cancels this event for any reason, you'll receive a full automatic refund.
