Painting Frida Kahlo feels like the right call for a Saturday afternoon — her self-portraits have this stillness that pulls you in even when you're just looking at them in a book, let alone when you're the one putting her on canvas. I'm Arlene, and I've run a few hundred of these sessions, so I'll meet you where you are — no art background needed, no stress. We're at the AC Hotel in Pasadena, and that space has a way of making an afternoon feel like a proper occasion: the design is sleek and considered, the kind of room that makes you sit up a little straighter and enjoy yourself a little more. We'll build up Frida's thorn necklace, her hummingbird, that iconic gaze — together, step by step.

Questions about what to expect, what’s included, and how it all works.
It’s a Frida Kahlo World, Kitty Cat ll is one of our more detailed paintings, which is exactly what makes it so satisfying to finish. Arlene paces it carefully so nobody gets left behind — and Arlene will help you turn any mistake into something intentional. Worth knowing: Paint Nite events happen at real bars and restaurants, not studios — it's a night out that happens to involve painting.
A painting class teaches you technique. Paint Nite gives you a finished painting and a good night. Arlene is a real local artist — not a teacher running a curriculum — and this event happens at AC Hotel , a real local spot, not a studio. Paint Nite invented this format in 2012 and has sold more than 10 million tickets. The trade-off is honest: lighting varies, it can get loud, and the person at the next easel is a stranger. That's the point. It's more of a night out than a class.
Yes — It’s a Frida Kahlo World, Kitty Cat ll is a Paint Nite favourite for girls nights in Pasadena . Everyone paints their own canvas, so there's always something to laugh about at the end. If you're planning a bachelorette party or a larger group, private events of 10+ get reserved seating and a custom experience.
Arlene is a real local artist based in Pasadena — not a franchise employee or a corporate hire. 11 out of 25 guests who've painted with Arlene say the instruction was amazing. Julianna B. said: 'Awesome event! The teacher is so incredible and the event was fun, educational, entertaining and inspiring!! Highly recommended!!!'
AC Hotel is a local venue in Pasadena — a real local spot, not a dedicated painting studio. Paint Nite events happen at places like this by design — venues with character, regulars, and a bar. It can get lively. That's what makes it a night out rather than a class.
Yes — we have 10 upcoming events in Pasadena this month. You can view them here.
Yaymaker is Paint Nite. We brought both brands together under the Paint Nite name — same artists, same events, same format we invented in 2012. More than 10 million tickets have been sold across both brands combined. If you used to attend Yaymaker events in Pasadena , you're in the right place. Welcome back.
Your ticket to It’s a Frida Kahlo World, Kitty Cat ll includes the canvas, all the paint you'll need, the use of brushes and an apron during the event, and step-by-step instruction from Arlene. Drinks and food are ordered separately from AC Hotel — you pay the venue directly for anything you eat or drink.
AC Hotel 's event starts at 2:00 PM. We suggest showing up by 1:30 PM to give yourself time to pick your seats, get a drink and maybe a bite before Arlene starts the painting.
You can reschedule your ticket to any other Paint Nite event up to 24 hours before this one starts. After that, tickets are locked — no refunds or changes. If Paint Nite cancels this event for any reason, you'll receive a full automatic refund.
