Our Approach to AI
Last updated: June 17, 2026
At Paint Nite, the thing we make is human. A real artist, a real room, a couple of hours where people put a brush to canvas and make something with their own hands. That hasn't changed, and our mission to bring people together and share experience is more important than ever.
We do use AI in parts of our business. We'd rather tell you exactly where and why than let you wonder. We're not anti-AI and we're not cheerleaders for it. We treat it as a tool — useful for some jobs, not so much for others — and we use it to help us serve more of the creative, human experience we're here to deliver.
Where we use AI
Marketing. We use AI to help generate some of our marketing images and to help write some of our marketing copy. Always carefully reviewed and manually corrected and cleaned up. The end product you come for — the event, the painting, the night out — is created and delivered by people.
Our tools and operations. We use AI behind the scenes to help our small team do more: surfacing the right paintings, drafting event descriptions, and handling routine work so the people here can spend their time on the parts only people can do.
Our artists and AI
The artists who lead our events are independent creators, and we don't police the tools they use to develop their work. Some may use AI the way an artist might use a reference photo or a mood board — for ideas and inspiration while developing original work. As policy we do not micro-manage how they do it. The rules are clear — the best paintings will be picked by the customers who want to create them, and it must be achievable by an inexperienced person in 2 hours or less.
We promise you this: The creativity at the center of a Paint Nite event comes from people, not a machine.
AI and our people
We don't bring in AI to shrink our team or replace the artists at the heart of what we do. We use it to extend our reach, do more with a small crew, and put more creative people to work — not fewer. Since our product is delivered by people and not machine made in a factory, the more we grow, the more people have well paying jobs.
Using it responsibly
AI has real costs — including energy and environmental ones. We try to use AI when it's the right tool for a complex job, not as a way to cut corners so we can avoid doing work. If we can do the work well without the use of AI we do so, we don't just dump things haphazardly into a chatbot and cut and paste responses to everything.
Your Personal information
When we use event images in our marketing — for example, working with event photos or images of customer paintings — we do so to celebrate and promote the creative work happening at our events. These images are not typically fed into AI, but on rare occasions we may use AI to clean up or make modifications to these images, but we NEVER sell your personal information, and we do not use customer content to train AI models or put your personal information into AI for any reason. For full detail on how we collect and use your information, see our Privacy Policy.
A living document
AI changes quickly, and so will how we use it. We'll update this page as our practices change. If you have questions about how we use AI, reach us at ai@paintnite.com.
