A frozen lake at dusk, all blue and white and quiet — that's what we're painting tonight, and I love how this one feels when it comes together. The reflection on the water, the snow-heavy trees, the sense of stillness — it sounds tricky but we'll build it up step by step together, and I promise it clicks. South Restaurant + Coffeehouse is such a good spot for this kind of night: grab a smoothie or an espresso, settle in, and just let yourself make something. I've run 66 of these and every time someone surprises themselves with what they walk out holding.
The coffeehouse offers fresh baked treats, salads, paninis, smoothies, milk shakes and espresso. It’s the perfect place to hang out and study or catch up with friends. If you don’t have time to linger, choose from our conveniently packaged grab and go items.

Questions about what to expect, what’s included, and how it all works.
Frozen Winter Lake II is one of our more detailed paintings, which is exactly what makes it so satisfying to finish. Kara paces it carefully so nobody gets left behind — and Kara will help you turn any mistake into something intentional. Worth knowing: Paint Nite events happen at real bars and restaurants, not studios — it's a night out that happens to involve painting.
A painting class teaches you technique. Paint Nite gives you a finished painting and a good night. Kara is a real local artist — not a teacher running a curriculum — and this event happens at South Restaurant + Coffeehouse, a real local spot, not a studio. Paint Nite invented this format in 2012 and has sold more than 10 million tickets. The trade-off is honest: lighting varies, it can get loud, and the person at the next easel is a stranger. That's the point. It's more of a night out than a class.
Kara is a real local artist based in Anchorage — not a franchise employee or a corporate hire. 5 out of 7 guests who've painted with Kara say the instruction was amazing. Craig B. said: 'The instructor, Jessica, is very good and an accomplished artist.'
South Restaurant + Coffeehouse is a local venue in Anchorage — a real local spot, not a dedicated painting studio. Paint Nite events happen at places like this by design — venues with character, regulars, and a bar. It can get lively. That's what makes it a night out rather than a class.
Yes — we have 113 upcoming events in Anchorage this month. You can view them here.
Frozen Winter Lake II is a winter painting — cozy seasonal vibes for a great night out.
Yaymaker is Paint Nite. We brought both brands together under the Paint Nite name — same artists, same events, same format we invented in 2012. More than 10 million tickets have been sold across both brands combined. If you used to attend Yaymaker events in Anchorage, you're in the right place. Welcome back.
Your ticket to Frozen Winter Lake II includes the canvas, all the paint you'll need, the use of brushes and an apron during the event, and step-by-step instruction from Kara. Drinks and food are ordered separately from South Restaurant + Coffeehouse — you pay the venue directly for anything you eat or drink.
South Restaurant + Coffeehouse's doors open at 8:00 AM, the event starts at 6:30 PM. We suggest showing up by 6:00 PM to give yourself time to pick your seats, get a drink and maybe a bite before Kara starts the painting.
You can reschedule your ticket to any other Paint Nite event up to 24 hours before this one starts. After that, tickets are locked — no refunds or changes. If Paint Nite cancels this event for any reason, you'll receive a full automatic refund.
