Del Forno in Meyersdal I'd my go to restaurant, from my kids birthdays, to when my mum visits, date night, friends, list goes on. I've celebrated my kids birthdays often from the time they turned 10 up until now that they are 18 and 22. The food is always on point, service is warm, atmosphere great...but on my birthday 28/2 decided I wanted to go out with my partner f9r bday supper...I had a busy bday eve so we were not looking to hv evening plans but we decided Del Forno it is😁
So on arrival, sweet waitress..told her it's my bday. We ordered the rolo milshakes but when it got to us, it looked nothing like the pics in the menu, it's supposed to be a gourmet milkshake..so I asked the waitresses why it looks so sad..so she took it back cos I asked where is the syrup etc. When it got back..the entire glass was messed on the outside with caramel..it was leaking down...and really felt n seemed Iike an act out of attitude n very deliberate . I humbly scooped up some as it was messy but I didn't moan to the manager about it. Pizza we shared and was lovely. They all sang for me with a lovely ice cream sparkle..this is always the nice part.
The manager , Donovan is usually always hands on, checking on customers but knowing it's a birthday, he didn't visit our table not once...not that I wanted a personal wish but seeing that it wasn't so full n busy, him being the on-site manager, it would have been good for him to add that extra service. Be seemed to be outside on his phone alot, which is disappointing. Seems very out of touch. He has been there for years I know that for a fact so I didn't wana address it with him as we walked out because my partner dislikes me making issues especially in restaurants.
I didn't even get my bday voucher, unless that is no longer😔
As we walked out he didn't thank or greet us....again..he was on the video chat on his phone. Like I say I love it there but on Saturday I was disappointed. Surely he heard the music of a birthday. We look forward to going out for our birthdays but it seems manager's who are too long at a restaurant seem to forget that ongoing customer happiness or loyal customers is very important.. one of the owners is my old friend☺️she made my kids bdats special yrs ago...I won't stop going to Del Forno in meyersdal but I do feel it's lacking personsl customer care....loyal customer, Swasthi

Del Forno Meyersdal – Date Night Special (R399 or R799)
We opted for the date night menu, kicking things off with a focaccia drizzled with garlic olive oil, oregano, and mozzarella—served with complimentary garlic, chili, and parmesan. A simple yet satisfying start!
For mains, I chose the Butter Indian Chicken with penne, while my date went for a classic Mediterranean Aglio Olio (garlic, olive oil, chili) alongside a creamy, crispy bacon penne. As usual, we swapped bites, and if this were a race, the bacon penne would be standing on the podium, gold medal in hand. Viva Italia!
Service was on point, thanks to our friendly waitress Prudence, who had sharp attention to detail and perfect timing between courses—never intrusive, yet always there when needed.
Being the gentleman I am, I let my date pick dessert: Malva pudding with custard—a warm, comforting end to the evening. We still had half a bottle of semi-sweet red wine left, perfect for a relaxed ride home… and yes, my date was from Benoni. 😁❤❤
