This was one of the worst restaurants we have eaten at ever!!!! Everyone's food was terrible! Kids meal came with about 10 fries!!!! Literally 10! Smallest portions I have ever received! It looked so silly on the plate!!! Told us kids meal came with 3 strips... only came with 2.... never brought us a third one after we mentioned we were told it came with 3.... lobster rolls were 80% lettuce!!! Tiniest amount of lobster...couldn't even taste it!! If you serve lobster rolls, LOBSTER should be the star of the dish! Not lettuce! Club sandwich was made with Texas toast bread so it was sooooo thick you couldn't even bite it.... dry!!! Barely any chicken!!! The amount of steak we had on our salads was half the amount shown on picture in menu.... rip off! They don't serve quality dishes! They care more about saving money and serving terrible sized portions but charging the price of quality dishes! Owners should be ashamed ...first and last time we ever eat there!
Okay so honestly, we chose this spot because we were staying at the Hampton Inn next door and had a 15% discount for staying there... it's a Tuesday. They had trivia night. Food was honestly a 6/10 due to lack of flavor. Obviously super short staffed atleast in our section. I saw 2 servers putting cutlery together while the poor male server was busting ass serving us and others in our section. One menu on the other table offered Apple crisp, we ordered it and were told it wasn't even available... awesome. Poor guy was running like a chicken with his head cut off... not his fault... my pub pie was okay. Literally lacked flavor.... butter chicken sauce was good except the cubed chicken tasted like it was frozen and blah .... I don't come to Ottawa often at all, but if it wasn't for the proximity to the hotel, I wouldn't come back. Also, update your menu online cause prices are off. Do better.
Been to the Royal Oak multiple times. Handy location, friendly staff and normally hearty food. Unfortunately this time I had the worst fish n chips ever. More batter than fish and very dried up/shrivelled. It may have been stood under the hot lamp for too long as they were very busy
